If you are looking for some cool new background music, Colombia Chill may be the CD for you. A retooling of classic tracks from Colombia’s rich musical history, this CD won’t get your heart pumping or even get you off the couch.

I guess it’s cute to hear what a Thievery Corporation version of “Yo me llamo Cumbia” would sound like (not that Thievery did it, just that it would probably sound a lot like this). But once you get past the novelty factor, you are left with a CD that takes out the best parts of these songs and leaves you with a chill. Take the heart, the spirit, the Afro-Colombian beats out of “La Mucura” and what are you left with? Not much.
