Voltio makes music for people that can’t stand reggaeton. Although technically not even reggaeton, this boricua could be classified as such. But his new CD, En Lo Claro, could be called a reggaeton smoothie, where the cream of the genre rises to the top. The previous obvious comparisons to Tego are obvious again (I had to take the CD out of the computer to make sure Tego wasn’t on a couple of these joints) but Voltio definitely has learned Tego’s lesson well: reggaeton by definition is a limited genre but is a great jump off point. Rock, Colombian, music, hip hop, salsa, bomba y plena; Voltio takes the energy from these other styles to infuse En Lo Claro.
