"Lado Este"
palabras ARACELI CRUZ
This Mexican songbird is literally working on the follow-up album to her incredible solo release effort “Lado Este,” right now, so before it’s out let us refresh your memory with this spotlight on the talented singer.
Sara Valenzuela first led the Mexican alt-pop band La Dosis until she went solo and released “Lado Este.” The 14-track album oozes love ballads and soft-techo tunes, but they’re not your average te amo/te extraño tunes. Valenzuela’s voice is a bit reminiscent of Julieta Venegas, though it’s a lot more soothing.
The album title track carries a creamy yet dark trance-vibe. Her voice is definitely the ingredient that holds these songs together, but the way it flows within the music is fantastic. The highlight track is the heartbreaking song “Si Me Voy.” She has a way of singing that just pierces into pure emotion. “Dejar Entrar” is another great song in which she, at times, transforms her appeasing voice into a heavier, raspier tone. “El Principio Del Final,” is a Norah Jones-like ballad that is utterly sweet. These songs are very dense with feeling and they are extraordinarily executed by Valenzuela.
