palabras BIANCA I LAUREANO
If I had to take a guess at what type of music classic artists like Prince listen to, I’d put Ely Guerra on that list. Plug and Play is not an album of new material, but it is an album of Ely singing seven select songs accompanied by her acoustic guitar live. I’ll have to admit; since I got this CD I’ve had it on continuous play. Not only is it an amazing compilation (that makes me wish it had more songs), it’s the perfect mix of songs for just about anything, and I do mean anything.
There is something extremely erotic about strings, and this album solidified that fact for me. Add to that Ely’s melodic voice that has an amazing range, and call and response from the audience, and the result is stunning. She selected songs from her last three album releases over a 10-year span. Force me to choose a favorite track and I’d go with the ones from her second release Pa’ Morises de Amor (1997): Peligro and No Quiero Hablar. I’ve seen Ely live, but never got to hear these tracks, so it was fabulous to hear her sing them live. Ely Guerra makes the kind of music that you just want more of all of the time. There is really no good reason to wait to get this CD, especially when it is almost cheaper than a gallon of gas!
