Get ready to spark up Satan's box because the new fall TV season has arrived. Here are seven Latinos in seven shows worth seeing. Don't ask us why the majority air on Tuesday nights. Work that out with your DVR.
Jimmy Smits—TV vets don't come any, uh, vetter than the man who caused serious spikes in ratings for L.A. Law, NYPD Blue and The West Wing. Fresh off the disappointment that was Cane (Jimmy had nothing to do with the failure of the show; blame the writing), the Puerto Rican maestro joins the sickest show on TV: Dexter. He'll play the titular cop/serial killer's assistant district attorney friend, Miguel Prado.
Details: Sundays at 10PM on Showtime.
Rosie Perez—Try as it might, Lipstick Jungle is no Sex and the City, but at least it isn't as lily-white as that show was. That's why this season, we'll be watching at least through the episodes that feature guest star and consummate Nu-Yawrican Rosie, who plays an I'll-eff-you-up publicist.
Details: Wednesdays at 10PM ET on NBC.
Dania Ramirez—Yes, the storyline she shared with Shalim Ortiz last season on Heroes was universally reviled. But homegirl is sexy as hell and she promises that her storyline this year (Shalim-free) will continue to be as well. It'll pretty much be the Dominican thesp's job on the show to fog up your TV screen. Keep those tissues handy.
Details: Mondays at 8PM ET on NBC.
Tristan Wilds—At just 19, this dominicano-African American is already a veteran of one of the most critically acclaimed shows of all time: HBO's sadly departed The Wire. His new show is way fluffier: the new 90210, in which the all-grown up Tristan turns on some serious charm as Dixon, a star athlete and scholar. Palabra!
Details: Tuesdays at 8PM ET on CW.
Kirk Acevedo—Fringe, the most hyped new show of the season, got off to a rocky start after so-so reviews. However, one of the highlights was TV vet Kirk Acevedo as Charlie Francis, the wise, compassionate partner to FBI agent Olivia Dunham (Olivia Torv). Want to make the show instantly better? Just give the former Oz, Law & Order and New York Undercover actor more screen time. Believe us.
Details: Tuesdays at 9PM. ET on FOX.
Paula Garces—The Harold & Kumar cutie has rocked her role as Lisa Hanlon, a cop desperately trying to get respect on the brutally realistic The Shield. This is the acclaimed show's last season, so look for more balls-out performances from the Colombian actress as the stakes rise for her character.
Details: Tuesdays at 10PM ET on FOX.
Ana de la Reguera—There's usually not too many reasons to tune into HBO Latino, but Capadocia's premiere kicked our asses with its rough edge. Ana delivered a searing performance as a mom who accidentally shoves her husband's mistress down some stairs and ends up in a notorious prison for the murder. It's Oz meets your worst Cancun vacation nightmare.
