Hitman is just your standard shoot-em-up. No more, no less. The plot is something you see coming a mile away, and the acting can often be shambolic, but the action is top notch and there are moments that will keep you at the edge of your seat. Timothy Oliphant does an O.K. job as Agent 47; he does as much as you can do with a character created for a video game with a thin back story. There is no sexual tension between him and co-star Olga Kurylenko, but I have a feeling that was beside the point. Director Xavier Gens is a fan of blood splatter, as the blood of every bad guy shot splatters all over the walls. A little variety in death would have been appreciated. If there is nothing else playing that you want to see, check out Hitman. Other than that, you can wait to rent it.
