Reality TV is getting a major kick in the ass and it’s about time. Yasmín Deliz and Crash are the two lovely ladies doing the ass kicking on mun2’s program “The Chicas Project.” The funky, upbeat show has the girls doing all sorts of crazy things, like sky diving, working at a zoo, bungee jumping and performing on stage with Los Razos.
Las chicas bring their stylish personalities and super high energy to an otherwise slew of mundane reality shows. Yasmín, the Venezuela-born and East Coast native, oozes that New York, reggaeton fashion flare while Crash, who is half Mexican and half German, delivers a chic LA rockera look.
NocheLatina talked to the ladies (simultaneously via phone which was one riot of a time) about their show, fashion and hilarious moda faux pas.
What is it like having cameras follow you around?
Yasmín: After a while you forget that they are even there. The first season I was kind of watching what I was saying, but by the second I didn’t even care.
Crash: I’ve been in the business since I was eight, so for me, it’s like second nature. But sometimes I’ll think ‘why did I say that?’ On the second season I fell while I was skating and the camera crew was all up in my face and I wanted to scream at them.
What has been your “Chicas” highlight?
Yasmín: When Crash surprised me by having my family visit me. I’m from New York and I hadn’t seen them in a while, so I was with Crash eating with her family and then my family walked in. That was great.
Crash: That was an awesome episode, but for me since I love extreme sports, we got to bungee jump. I bungee jumped eight times.
Yasmín: She made me do it twice.
Do you get to pick out your clothes for the show?
Crash: I am very picky about what I wear, even more for this show. I had a stylist and they know not to bring me anything white, or with flowers, unless the flowers are bleeding.
Yasmín: We never wear what we don’t want to. I love anything with bright colors. What we wear is a reflection of who we are.
Where do you shop?
Yasmín: I love Forever 21.
Crash: Forever 21 is so rad. I’m also a Melorse shopper, but I will go anywhere. Take me to Target, Wal-Mart, Goodwill because I will reinvent my own style.
So I guess that answers where you would go if someone handed you $2000
Yasmín: With $2000 you could but the whole Forever 21 store!
What sort of stuff did you love to wear as a kid?
Yasmín: My favorite color was navy blue and I didn’t care what I wore when I was a kid. My mom would force me to wear pastel colored dresses with ruffles.
Crash: I’ve always been a rockera with Dickies, wife-beaters, and I would wear my mom’s heals to school. I love my Chucks, studded belts and black bracelets.
Who are your fashion icons?
Crash: Gwen Stefani. Her fashion sense is amazing.
Yasmín: I love Jennifer Lopez. She is always so fly. I also love Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz. They are super classy.
Choose a celeb that needs a fashion makeover pronto?
Yasmín: I would give pick Crash.
Crash: Hey that’s mean.
Yasmín: It was a joke. I’m kidding.
Crash: That was really mean Yasmín. I would give Ivy Queen a makeover and I would start with her nails.
Yasmín: For sure Britney Spears, from head to toe.
What is the most you have spent on one shopping spree?
Yasmín: I’m not a big-time shopper.
Crash: I think I spent like $1000 in 30 minuets but they were in two different stores.
Yasmín: I can’t spend that much because I would feel guilty. I have bills to pay.
Name one thing in your closest that you can’t live without
Crash: Stilettos. I am in stilettos 24/7.
Yasmín: You can’t go wrong with a little black dress.
What is the best fashion trend right now?
Yasmín: Neon colors.
Crash: Skinny jeans, and high wasted jeans.
What is currently the worst fashion trend?
Crash: Hoochie shorts
Yasmín: Mini skirts
