Latinos Invade Coachella
This year’s Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival should have been called the Latin Coachella Music Festival as the Latinos brilliantly took over.
Tijuanaera princess Julieta Venegas, wearing a beautiful purple dress, danced around the Gobi stage singing songs mostly from her last two poppy albums. In between songs Julieta gave some warm-hearted love advice in both English and Spanish.
“It’s a pretty bilingual day,” she said.
Indeed it was all 3-days, with performances by Ozomatli on Saturday and Jose Gonzales on Sunday.
Rodrigo Y Gabriela played an outstanding rock-acoustic set which had fans chanting “Mexico, Mexico.”
International musician Manu Chao, on the main stage, also had a breathtaking performance. Throughout his set Manu Chao dedicated songs to his Mexican fans and even performed a punk-rock version of the Mexican traditional tune “Volver, Volver.”
L.A. band Rage Against the Machine reunited with frontman Zach de la Rocha and closed the show with an exploding set of their most popular songs.
Hollywood stars also came out to support the music and art festival. Actress Jessica Alba was seen looking all grumpy as her boyfriend Cash Warren trailed behind.
Veteran Coachella-goer and actress Cameron Diaz returned, this time without her Ex. Cameron has been attending the festival for a couple years now. It seems she’s hooked on Coachella just like us!
