Mexican hip-hop group Cartel de Santa is getting publicity but not in a good way. Lead vocalist Eduardo Davalos de Luna allegedly shot and killed one of his band mates, accidentally of course, or so he says.
Thankfully Davalos de Luna turned himself in soon after the incident, but the story gets crazier. Media reports say that Davalos de Luna was only armed because someone was out to harm him. So Davalos de Luna got his gun, that was given to him by a fan, and that is when the gun went off. What sort of fan gives a gun as a gift?

Why is it that when people become super successful they dump whom ever helped them get there? Well that’s the way the story went down a year ago when Robert Rodriguez and his wife Elizabeth Avellan, of 16 years and the mother of his five kids, parted ways. The New York Post reports that Rodriguez and Grindhouse actress Rose McGowan began an affair which hindered the production of the movie.

Once artists make the crossover like mega-selling singer Shakira did so brilliantly in the U.S., and every else for that matter (she recently performed at a sold-out show in Cario…that’s 25,000 fans!) they get success backlash. Colombian singer Carlos Vives criticized Shakira for forgetting her roots. Vives said Shakira should “dive in the Magdalena River and not so much in the Mississippi.” We think that’s a bit harsh. Click here to read the entire story.

Remember the Latin music crossover craze in the late ‘90s by artists like Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Paulina Rubio, Enrique Iglesias? It seems like it's happening again.
Alejandro Sanz is in the works to record an English album featuring songs with Alicia Keys and Beyonce (did you see her sing “Irreplaceable” in Español on the Today Show?). There’s also a rumor that Daddy Yankee will release an English album too. We wonder what other artists are next.

Our favorite indie movie hunk Gael Garcia Bernal is teaming up again with his on-screen BFF Diego Luna (they looked so cute at the Oscars together) for the soccer film Rudo y Cursi, which should be released next year. At the helm will be director and writer Carlos Cuaron (who also wrote Y Tu Mama Tambien). Garcia Bernal also signed up for a film based on the Mexican novel “Pedro Páramo” by Juan Rulfo. His latest movie releases include El Pasado and Déficit.

We can’t take this back and forth!!! Bilingual rockers (and big-time jokesters) Molotov, first announced they are breaking up and then they say nothing is certain. We know being in a relationship is tough but this is ludicrous. We can’t help it think we’re getting punked. Either way, Molotov is on tour (kind of) and they'll be playing on Easter Sunday at the House of Blues in San Diego. We bet they’ll be on stage in full bunny outfits. Don’t miss out on this show, it may be the last time you ever see them.

When you’re opening up for LA soul-rock band Cold War Kids it’s tough to stand out, but Delta Spirit did just that at the sold-out show at the Bowery Ballroom on April 7.
One look at lead singer Matt Vasquez and we were hooked. He’s got a cute rockabilly thing going on (think Chris Carrabba from Dashboard Confessional) and his vocals are insanely good. Vasquez has great on-stage energy, and their music has an awesome alternative-folk vibe.
Delta Spirit will be playing tonight again at the Bowery Ballroom in New York.

Last night’s Giant Magazine party at Cielo in New York was a complete disaster; at least it was for those trying to get in.
Zion, Mya and Swizz Beats performed for a packed house, but the real performances came from hopeful attendees whose comments ranged from “I am supposed to be in there” and “this is ridiculous.”
No one was handling the door. The enclosed entrance and the surrounding area was disorganized and chaotic.
Even celeb-guest DJs Nina Sky were fending for themselves trying to get in. One of them said “I am not waiting out here.”

America Ferrera is on the May cover of W magazine, in which the “Ugly Betty” star says she would never conform herself to please others.
“I gain a pound; I lose a pound. But I think I've developed a really good sense of when I'm doing something for myself as opposed to when I'm doing something because of other people’s expectations of me,” she tells the mag.
Maybe these skinny waifs would learn a thing or two from the award-wining actress.

Sunday will mark the 50th anniversary of the death of Mexican icon Pedro Infante. The handsome actor was tragically killed when he crashed his plane on April 15, 1957 near Mérida, Yucatan. That day was declared a national day of mourning in Mexico.
To get a closer insight on why Infante is still so fondly remembered decades since his death, read our archived story on Infante, check out this clip, read “Loving Pedro Infante” by Denise Chavez, or watch one of his 60 films. The tabloids are ganging up on Jennifer Lopez, pero porque? Probably because for once, Jennifer is drama free.
First OK! Magazine insisted Jennifer and Marc Anthony were over and now the National Enquirer claims the glamorous couple is involved in a heroin scandal.
We hope the money-making duo takes them to court!

Hey let’s jump on the reggaeton bandwagon, everyone else seems to be on it including Spanish hottie David Bisbal.
Don't freak out just yet, this song is actually really good. Bisbal teamed up with reggaeton duo Wisin Y Yandel for a new song titled “Torre de Babel.”
The mix of Latin pop with reggaeton is sensational. Click here and listen for yourself (this is not the actual video!)

Yummy actor Diego Luna is becoming quite a chameleon. Luna is in talks to play the iconic Mexican actor Mario Moreno aka “Cantinflas” in a movie about his life. Talk about pressure.
Luna will also play another iconic person in the movie “Mister Lonely” in which he stars as a young Michael Jackson impersonator.
