Hello All, so things been wild like always. Can't sleep. So many things to do. Me and Purple Zebra aren't as cool anymore. I still consider her a friend but she has her ex-boy toy in the picture still. You know how it is, I gotta keep it moving.
I've been meeting so many great women lately that it's easy to get lost in the whirlwind of dating. Living in Miami is like a kid in a candy store. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind to meet a good girl I can settle with maybe ... but if it hasn't presented itself to me yet, I have to live!
O.K O.K, so last weekend had a chance to check out the Saturday gallery walk in the Wynwood art district. I always enjoy this because you can see what is going on in the scene. I made my way to Johnny Robles’ showing at the AntiKulture space at the Historic Octopus building. I've been friends with Johnny since high school, he even use to cut my hair at 24 Street Barbershop, which was a place that Pitbull would hang out as well and pass out mixtapes when he was starting out.
Anyway me and Johnny went to college together at the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore. So, I had to support my homeboy. Check out his work at www.JohnnyRobles.com I also made my way to other galleries like David Castillo Gallery and I ran into some other artists at an opening at the Leonard Tachmes Gallery where I ran into Sam, one half of the art collective, Friends With You (www.Friendswithyou.com) also got to hang with good friend paper artist Jen Stark (www.JenStark.com) and so many others. It was a nice time. So,
I had an art showing at the exclusive Havana Club of Miami, you had to see this place. It's at the top floor of the tallest building in Miami. I showed a lot of smaller pieces. The view is outta control. It went pretty good, Andy Gazitua (Senior Advisor of the Mayor of Miami) stopped by to check out the new paintings. He owns a couple and they are hanging in the Mayor’s office at the Government Center building. Andy's a great guy. He invited me to his office next week so we can catch up. Hmmm, what else...oh yeah. So, that interview from the SiTv Channel already aired nationally in Oct. If you would like to see the clip check out the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bbL0cvtsVE.
It was filmed over a year ago and it just came out. I don't do that event anymore, I stopped painting live there around Nov. of 2006. Speaking of South Beach, I was asked by the Fifth to do a few live pieces of Kim Kardishian over the weekend. I painted no more then 20 minutes, maybe even less. I did a few pieces, said what's up to Kim who was hanging with Scott Storch. Special thanks to J. Little and Simply Jess. The bartender was a bitch though, she was giving me drinks and expected me to pay for them. She said I was arrogant...and of course I didn't pay for them. People kiss ass to people that don't really matter to society. I get a lot of love from most of the places I go, because I give myself worth and I work really hard. I would expect to be taken care of (and anyone for that matter) If I'm a guest and I'm doing something nice like creating a painting where I tend to turn down a lot of clubs.
People sometimes mistake confidence and having a definite mission as arrogance or big headedness. I will admit some people in Miami are beginning not to like me, and to be honest I'm fine with it. You can't make everyone happy and some people are professionals at being jealous. I don't understand it, because I like to surround myself with people that are always smarter then me and doing more than me. It helps you learn and to take on bigger challenges. I salute all the people doing great things around here, because they followed their gut.
Lastly, tonight I was painting in the studio and got a text from my attorney friend Pep Diaz asking me if was going to be at the Simon Evening of Giving Fashion show...which I completely forgot I was going to do. I drove over as fast as possible and did the fashion show thing, it was a fun. I am in no way shape or form a model ... but the event tries to get people involved in the community to wear some of the clothes from the stores in Dadeland Mall. I did that fast and pretty much came back to the studio right after and kept painting. That's how it goes!
