Aventura is a bachata music group from the Bronx in New York City. The group was formed in 1994 by cousins Anthony (Romeo) and Henry Santos and brothers Max and Lenny Santos. They originally went by the name Los Teenagers (The Teenagers). They later decided to change their name to Aventura. In 1999, they released their debut album Generation Next, which featured hits such as Cuando Volveras and No Lo Perdona Dios. The former song introduced bachata fans with Aventura's knack for speaking both English and Spanish in their songs. Although it would receive little promotion initially, the album would become big once their follow-up was released. In 2002, We Broke the Rules was released featuring the runaway hit Obsesion. It would first receive constant airplay in New York City in the summer of 2002 on stations Latino Mix 105.9 and La Mega 97.9, but the hit eventually spread worldwide by the end of the next year. The album featured other hits such as Amor de Madre, Todavia Me Amas, and Ensename a Olvidar. In March 2003, New York stations started promotion for the group's third album Love & Hate by releasing the first single La Guerra. Despite being a decent hit in New York, the album became a bigger deal thanks to its second single Hermanita in September 2003.
After months of promotion, Love & Hate was finally released later that month. After promoting Love & Hate, most of 2004 was spent in the recording studio and on the road. Aventura would return in 2005 strongly with two new singles, La Boda and Ciego de Amor, featuring bachata veteran Antony Santos. In April 2005, God's Project was released. The album would have additional momentum for the rest of 2005 and the first half of 2006 with the next two singles, Ella y Yo featuring reggaeton star Don Omar, and Un Beso. In September 2006, the single Los Infieles was released. Three months later, the single would be featured in Aventura's next album, K.O.B. Live. The second single Mi Corazoncito would dominate for all of 2007, peaking at #2 on the Hot Latin Tracks. The next single, El Perdedor would also be a top five hit in late 2007 and early 2008. In September 2008, Aventura would have an unexpected hit thanks to a performance in the Latin Grammy's Tribute to Jose Jose, a cover from Jose Jose titled, Lagrimas. That single would reach #1 in the Dominican Republic. A few months later, promotion for their upcoming album The Last began with the single Por Un Segundo. After jumping to #2 in early 2009, it would hit paydirt by reaching #1 on the Hot Latin Tracks in late January 2009. Despite Por Un Segundo already reaching the top spot, radio stations are already playing their second single, El Desprecio.
Aventura is one of the most unique and innovative artists on the scene today. After more than ten years of sparring in the music business, these four young, dynamic guys with a seldom-seen chemistry continue to auto-produce soulful, original music that gleams with excellence. They are the first "Bachata-boy band," the first band to fuse the essence of bachata with R & B, hip hop and other American pop styles; the first Bachata band to perform in English, Spanish and "Spanglish." Aventura is also one of the first bachata groups to feature songs that address serious life situations. One of their new hit singles is "Por Un Segundo" is Aventura's latest song of 2008.
