Don’t let the blacked-out windows or unassuming door of The Dime fool you; this easy-to-miss local favorite packs to capacity nightly. Inside, attractive 20-somethings kick back in their Rock and Republics and mingle with other neighborhood regulars, like Ashley Olsen and Mischa Barton. The crimson walls and banquettes of this tiny alcove are at times sexy, but when the part hops and bodies start sweating, it’s reminiscent of the inside of a steamy mouth. In the corner, the DJ mixes popular hip-hop and rock music with older selections, like Amy Grant’s “Baby, baby,” while behind the bar, the model-esque staff is busy but accommodating. Entry is first come first serve, so arrive early; the handsome doorman may reward your patience by sneaking you into a private party in the future.
