Devotees of the shuttered club Luke & Leroy, best known for having launched the careers of the impossibly hip MisShapes, will be pleasantly surprised at its swankier reincarnation that's equal parts dive and glam. Chandeliers and pop art prints behind the upstairs bar evoke a Warhol's Factory feel, while the downstairs lounge is more subdued. On either level, an ultra-casual crowd of t-shirt and jeans bedecked hipsters and fashionistas prevail, though it's the first floor where everyone gets their groove on to a mix of electronic and rock spun by top notch DJs. Live music is scheduled five nights a week on the ground level performance stage, while Fridays boast the return of the Robot Rock party. Kate Moss may have played tonsil hockey with a DJ here on opening night, but music—not celebrity spotting—is the main attraction here.
