Rooster Fish - “Interesting alcoholics like / to talk about their small dicks” goes the Roosterfish theme song (to the tune of “Puttin’ on the Ritz”). Yes, this Venice gay bar has a theme song—and you ARE likely to hear its patrons talk about their units. It also has Margarita Wednesdays, bar-b-ques on Sundays (aka “You Can’t Beat Ray’s Meat”) and, as the bartenders will tell you, plenty of stiff drinks. The puns can get overwhelming, but the attitude of the patrons is laidback and friendly. Roosterfish draws guys looking for a drink after the beach or after work to play some pool or darts, but it really fills up on the weekends when the jukebox bumps a wide mix of songs for the almost completely male crowd. The bartenders might harass you about tipping, or what you’re wearing, or really anything, but then again bitchiness is part of the place’s charm.
