Cocktail of the Week: Santo Libre

As we reach the final days of summer, now is the perfect time to enjoy the steamy weather before autumn makes its grand entrance. Nothing sets the mood to show off a swimsuit-ready body quite like a refreshing rum cocktail. Last week, we celebrated National Rum Day and told you about the Classic Zombie, a tiki favorite that never goes out of style. This time, we’re paying tribute to a new creation, known as Santo Libre from the Dominican Republic. This tropical concoction features smooth, buttery rum that cools you off no matter how hot it gets. It also includes a simple blend of freshly squeezed lime juice, as well as bubbly lemon-lime soda. Grab your flip flops, fire up those BBQs, and invite the amigos over for an evening of goodbye summer cocktails. The Santo Libre will leave you feeling refreshed and free-like any amazing elixir should.

Santo Libre Recipe

Ingredients
1.5 oz. Rum (We used Brugal Anejo Rum)
A squeeze of lime juice
Lemon-lime soda

Preparation
Pour rum over ice in a tall glass. Add a squeeze of fresh lime juice. Fill with lemon-lime soda. Stir and enjoy.
