Nothing jumpstarts a fiesta quite like a cocktail holiday. We’re still swooning over National Pina Colada Day and that was weeks ago! Yesterday (Tuesday, July 19th to be exact) was National Daiquiri Day and we didn’t mind launching a party before the weekend. Originally discovered at La Floridita Bar in Havana, the Daiquiri may have been made to suit the specific tastes of famous author Ernest Hemingway, who frequented this bar. According to legend, Hemingway would order several double servings of this classic concoction, hence the name “Papa Doble.” Although there are many variations of this drink, La Floridita’s classic ingredients make it exceptional-fresh lime and grapefruit juice, sweet maraschino liqueur, and superior rum. It’s not Friday yet…but why deny yourself another reason to celebrate tonight?
