Top Halloween Party in New York City: Dia De Los Murertos Carnaval @ El Museo Del Barrio

Many may recognized the 31st as Halloween, but for Latinos, November 1st marks our own holiday. Known as “day of the dead,” you can also take part in a traditional Dia De Los Muertos carnaval in the newly renovated El Museo Del Barrio in upper Manhattan right before Halloween. El Museo’s courtyard will feature several oversized installations of altars paying homage to the dead. Decorated with tropical fruit, antifaces, beads, feathers, and other Carnival inspired décor, the evening will feature Samba dance performances, a conga line, live drumming, and a special musical performance by José Luis Pardo, the lead singer of Amigos Invisibles, also known as DJ Cheo. A silent auction will also be held throughout the evening. All proceeds will support El Museo’s education and community programs.

This is definitely one of the most anticipated events of Halloween weekend.
