The Latin Grammy Awards is officially happening on Wednesday, November 4th in Las Vegas and one legendary Latin artist is already set to receive a very special award.
International renowned singer/songwriter Juan Gabriel will be honored as the 2009 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year. Gabriel, chosen for his musical and philanthropic accomplishments, will be recognized at the star-studded event and black-tie dinner at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay.
The “Celebration with Juan Gabriel” gala will be one of the most prestigious events held during the 10th Annual Latin Grammy Awards Ceremony. The awards will be broadcast live on the Univision Television Network at 8PM EST.
During his 30-year career, Gabriel has sold more than 100 million albums and has performed to sold-out audiences throughout the world. In addition, he has produced more than 100 albums for over 50 artists, as well as written at least 1,500 songs. He will be joining other artists, including Gloria Estefan, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Ricky Martin, and Carlos Santana who’ve previously been honored as Person of the Year.
