There’s nothing like a slice of ice-cold watermelon to hit the spot on those sizzling hot summer days. Whether you’re throwing an evening fiesta or relaxing at home after work, taking some time for yourself to savor juicy watermelons could be the key to feeling cool all season long. After all, how great would it be if all we needed to save some money on electricity during humid nights is watermelons? From their thick, ivy green skin, to their deep pink interior sprinkled with glossy black seeds, watermelons can always add some refreshment to salads and desserts made for backyard BBQs, picnics at the beach, or weekend pool parties. However, what happens when you take some frozen wedges and add them to a drink? The result is nothing short of delicious.

The Fica Frio, one of SUSHISAMBA’s signature Latin drinks, is an incredibly frosty cocktail inspired by the official fruit of summer. What makes the Fica Frio a tasty thirst-quencher is its heavy usage of watermelon chunks, which not only add a gorgeous, yet natural ruby hue to alcohol, but also blends perfectly with grenadine, a syrup made from tangy pomegranates or plump cherries, as well as fresh pineapple juice. In addition, the Fica Frio’s tantalizing flavor and chilly body are enhanced with sour mix from lemons and limes, and cachaca, a distilled liquor from Brazil that’s velvety smooth, but strong enough to awaken your senses. Not too sugary or bitter, the Fica Frio’s purpose is to out beat rising temperatures, hence the name “frio” or “cold” in Spanish. Save some money from turning on the AC and instead, make a trip to your bar and create a Fica Frio, the one drink that’s sure to bring a little bit of winter to your summer!
