Eva Mendes Escapes Danger in Mexico

If you were expecting to see Eva Mendes star on the upcoming film Queen of the South, all we can say is fuggedaboutit!

The sultry Cubana and the production crew were forced to end filming the story about the life of a hardcore drug smuggler in Mexico. Art began imitating life after Director Jonathan Jakubowicz received threatening phone calls from unidentified suspects of the Mexican mob.

In response to the dangerous threats, Jonathan released the following statement below:

I’ve worked really hard to make this beautiful movie, but the safety of my family and my team comes first. Making this movie would have put us all at risk, not only in Mexico but in the U.S. The world should pray for peace in Mexico.

Eva and everyone from the film did arrive safely in the states, but no one else has commented on the life-threatening incident. While we would have liked to have seen her tackle such a serious role, we prefer that she’s safe and sound!
