Jennifer Lopez is back on the limelight and it isn’t just for her rocky marriage with salsa singer Marc Anthony.
The Argentine TV series “Rebelde Way” will be adapted for U.S. television by Fox Studios and Nuyorican Productions. So what does this have to do with Jenny? It turns out that she owns Nuyorican Productions!
For those who aren’t familiar with “Rebelde Way,” the show tells the story of a group of teenagers in a private school who form a pop band. The series successfully created the real hit band Erreway, which became a top-selling pop group in Argentina and even starred in their own movie. Think Spice Girls rated PG-13. “Rebelde Way” has been sold to over 40 countries and the format has been licensed by several markets, including Mexico, where the now-defunct pop group RDB was formed.
The script for Jennifer Lopez’s version of the series will be written by Duane Adler, best known for his work in films Save the Last Dance and Step Up.
We don’t know if Jenny will strike gold from this new project, but it doesn’t sound like a complete failure either. “Ugly Betty” became an instant sensation in the states, and like “Rebelde Way,” it was originally adapted from a Latin American series.
However, the real question is, are you going to watch “Rebelde Way” when it premieres?
