Cucu Diamantes fans, get ready to mark your calendars! Her debut solo album CUCULAND is set for a February 10th release.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the Co-Founder of Yerba Buena brings a multi-cultural fusion of urban-Latin rhythms, feminine strength, and old-school glamour to songs examining the challenges and triumphs of personal relationships.
Cucu, the Principal Vocalist for New York-based Latin funk band Yerba Buena, was part of creating a band that fused African rhythms, tropical sounds, and urban elements only found in the city. She, along with the members of Yerba Buena, successfully played Afro-Cuban funk, hip hop, salsa, and Nuyorican boogaloo. Their musical talent has garnered a Grammy nomination and opportunity to perform by request alongside artists, including The Dave Matthews Band, Juanes, Ray Charles, and the late Celia Cruz in her last New York City concert.
Boasting previous collaborations with artists such as Fatboy Slim, Orishas, and Vico C., Cucu began stretching her creative range as an in-demand solo artist. Recently, she had a song featured on the soundtrack of NBC’s "Heroes," where she joins a track listing that includes David Bowie, Bob Dylan, and Iggy Pop.
If you can’t get enough of Cucu, don’t miss her performance at the 2009 Latino Inaugural Gala on January 18th in Washington, alongside Marc Anthony, Alejandro Sanz, and Paulina Rubio. If that seems too long, get an early listen here.
