Latin CD sales may be down, but that doesn’t mean some aren’t enjoying the fruits of their labor.
Puerto Rican pop singer Luis Fonsi continues to dominate radio airplay for an impressive 17 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s “Hot Latin Songs” chart with “No Me Doy Por Vencido” (I Do Not Give Up).
With the song holding the top spot for the first three weeks of 2009, Luis’s anthem of inspiration and perseverance has been the #1 Latin song in the country for over 4 months. In addition, “No Me Doy Por Vencido” was also selected as one of “The Best Songs of 2008” by iTunes. However, his success doesn’t stop there. His multi-platinum album Palabras Del Silencio has a Grammy nomination for “Best Latin Pop Album.”
To check out Luis exercising his pipes, look for his second single “Aqui Estoy Yo” to go on radio shortly. He’ll also perform for three nights at “El Coliseo de Puerto Rico” between February 13-15th. In addition, Luis is confirmed to perform at The 50th Anniversary of “Festival de la Cancio” in Chile, also known as the world’s biggest Latin Music Festival. Whew, that’s one busy man!
